Background

Andrew J. Barnes, Ph.D. is an associate professor of health behavior and policy at Virginia Commonwealth University, research associate at the VCU Massey Cancer Center and affiliate faculty in the Center for the Study of Tobacco Products.

His research interests include health policy, tobacco regulatory science and behavioral economics. He is the co-author of "Healthcare Systems in Transition: United States of America" and co-editor of "Behavioral Economics and Healthy Behaviors: Key Concepts and Current Research."

Dr. Barnes completed his doctoral training in health policy with a concentration in economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. He holds a master's of public health from Tulane University and bachelor's degrees in psychology and biology from Pitzer College.
